The Greys is a new, NFT-funded and DAO-driven animated series featuring "The Greys" a family of rock and roll aliens living on Nebulon Fragment Twelve (NFT) who've "rescued" Mason, a human from <eww gross!> Earth!
Please reach us at info@thegreys.tv if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Loaded Question! First and foremost, "The Greys" is an NFT funded, DAO driven [adult swim]-style animated series about a family of aliens with the last name "Grey" and their "rescued" human, Mason. The bunch lives on planetary fragment Nebulon Fragment Twelve (NFT), and the episodes largely follow the crazy adventures of Corpulous and Lewis as they teach Mason about galactic living and try to break him out of his <eww! gross!> Earthling habits. Each episode will be ~15 minutes and be an NFT in and of itself with a dedicated Youtube Channel for public consumption.
Second, "The Greys" are what humans tend to call the large-headed aliens popularized by the 1980's hit movie, "Close Encounters of The Third Kind." Our Greys aren't always grey, but since earthlings know them by that name more than any other, it's what they're called galactically. (Personally we would have preferred using Arilou Lalee'lay, but since not everyone is as hardcore 80's & 90's as we are – and since that name is probably protected by copyright – we went with The Greys.)
Finally, The Greys are an artist-drawn, software randomized, 10,000 piece NFT Collection that we're using to fund the production of our cartoon and grant membership in the DAO we're building around "The Greys." You can see some samples in the gallery above, but because the NFTs will be minted randomly, and item rarity will be enforced algorithmically, there's no real guarantee if any of those will be minted.
There are a handful of reasons all revolving around our two founders. One is an artist renowned for his IRL paintings, speed paintings, and now, digital artwork. The other is a voice actor/writer, who retired from tech in 2008 at the "C" level.
With those backgrounds we thought it would be pretty trite to build kickstarter or GoFundMe campaigns, which would take a huge rake and not give our investors any level of ownership in the project. By funding with NFTs, and using those NFTs as membership tokens in our DAO, we're rewarding our NFT investors with an actual piece of "The Greys." The DAO will include profit sharing provisions for all NFT holders (with plans for sharing not only NFT transfer profits, but also property licensing, merchandizing, and fingers-crossed syndication.
Look. If Trey Parker and Matt Stone had come to us looking for investors or collaborators in 1992 with characters and a script for South Park's original Spirit of Christmas (Jesus vs Frosty), we would have jumped at the opportunity to own a piece of the empire! If they had come back in 1995 with SoC part 2 (Jesus vs Santa), we would have begged to be a part of what was sure to be an instant hit. More recently, we would have made the same offer to Dan and Justin, and if we hadn't been kids when Simpson's premiered on The Tracy Ullman show, we might've made Matt the same offer, too.
The point here is that we're cartoon-heads and children of the 80's and 90's. We think that adult animation is the perfect medium to convert social commentary and outrage into satire and comedy without being taken too seriously. We always have! So, we wanted an opportunity to share our passion with other like-minded adults, and to share a piece of the pie with investors that believe in us and what we're planning to do with The Greys. What better way to do that with a DAO Smart Contract?
Note: This is not to say we wouldn't sign a $100M development deal with a production house like [adult swim] or Comedy Central, but there's no reason our DAO couldn't profit-share a lucrative deal like that, either!
We are minting a total of 10,000 Greys. NFTs will be masked until sold.
As of Earth Date 02/21/2022 our plan* is to begin our minting with an Initial Air Drop of 50 NFTs and a private presale of an additional 50 NFTs to Friends and Family. Then we will release 900 NFTs for presale-then-public sale to provide funding to animate The Greys S01E01 - estimated price is 0.05 ETH. An additional drop of 1500 NFTS is planned prerelease of The Greys Pilot Episode, with three drops of 2500 each following the pilot's release. For each drop, a maximum of 5% will be reserved for airdrops.
* Timelines and plan are in their early stages and subject to change. The 7 main characters (Corpulous, Lewis, Mason, Puddle, Pops, Gramps, and Violet) will be reserved by the creators as unique NFTs holding extra weight in the eventual DAO.
As of Earth Date 02/15/2022, we're currently in pre-production. We're putting final touches on our character and world design, and building this NFT portal to self-fund full development of the pilot episode. Rest assured, even though we're independents, The Greys will be Hollywood pitch-ready before we mint our first round of NFTs in March.
The sample NFTs on this site are samples only! They were just a few chosen pre-randomizations that we thought the public might enjoy. Unfortunately, that means that the sample NFTs pictured above aren't for sale! Extra-unfortunately, the specific images shown as samples may never be minted - we've got enough art for millions, but the randomizer is only going to create 10,000 official "The Greys" NFTs. To be fair to our investors, all The Greys NFTs will be masked until they're officially minted/purchased.
Lover of all things 80's, our artist is well known for his speed paintings and celebrity death tribute art, our artist is something truly special indeed!
This is what happens when a "techie" retires and pursues his passion for voice acting, stand-up comedy, and scriptwriting!
